What are the Recently Listed IPOs?
Recently listed IPOs are those that have been listed on stock exchanges like BSE and/or NSE. Before an IPO is listed, it goes through several stages. After the bidding period has ended and shares have been allocated to successful investors, the IPO is listed. IPOs can be listed at a premium (higher than the issue price) or at a discount (lower than the issue price).
What Happens When an IPO is Listed?
In the stock market, IPO listing refers to the process of making a company's shares available for trading. As soon as a recent IPO in India is listed, traders and investors will be able to purchase or sell shares. Also, when an IPO is listed, investors have the opportunity to make a profit or book losses.
How Recently Listed IPO's Share Price is Discovered on Listing Day?
The price discovery session or 'Call auction' is conducted on the listing day of a recent IPO in India. Usually, this session lasts for an hour before regular trading begins. When regular trading starts on the first day of the recent IPO listings, the weighted average price in that session will serve as the basis for the circuit filter.
The SEBI guidelines do not set limits for price discovery during price discovery sessions. However, the exchanges apply a 75% operating range during the price discovery session. This prevents a few random bids from tampering with the process. BSE and NSE officials decide to relax the ceiling if there is heavy demand at the upper end of the 75% operating range. If demand is not as high, the 75 percent ceiling remains.
