KPIT serves a global client base with development centres across India, Europe, the USA, Japan, China, and Brazil. The company’s core focus is on enabling the transformation to software-defined vehicles.

KPIT operates exclusively in the automotive engineering services domain, with key verticals including:

  • Feature Development & Integration: Focused on electric vehicles (EV), advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), and body electronics.
  • Architecture & Middleware Consulting: Specializing in platforms like AUTOSAR and software architecture standardization.
  • Connected Services & Diagnostics: Offers telematics, digital cockpit solutions, and vehicle diagnostics.

Revenue is derived primarily from engineering services provided to global automotive OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers. The business follows a balanced contract model, with a mix of time-and-materials and fixed-price engagements. Europe, the United States, and Asia contribute major portions of revenue, with passenger vehicles being the dominant vehicle segment.

  • 1990 – Incorporated as KPIT Infosystems in Pune.
  • 1999 – Launched its initial public offering, which was significantly oversubscribed.
  • 2002 – Merged with Cummins Infotech and became KPIT Cummins Infosystems.
  • 2013 – Rebranded as KPIT Technologies after Cummins reduced its holding.
  • 2018 – Corporate restructuring split KPIT and Birlasoft into separate entities.
