Jio Financial Services Limited (JFSL) was incorporated on July 22, 1999, as Reliance Strategic Investments Private Limited. It is promoted by Mukesh Ambani / Reliance Group and headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra. It was demerged from Reliance Industries and listed as an independent entity on NSE (JIOFIN) & BSE (543940) on August 21, 2023. Its core business includes NBFC operations, payment services, insurance broking, wealth & asset management, digital financial platforms, and payment banking.

JFSL operates through several subsidiaries and joint ventures: Jio Finance (digital lending and credit services), Jio Insurance Broking, Jio Payment Solutions, and Jio Payments Bank. It also has a JV with BlackRock for asset management and broking. Revenue sources include interest income from lending, fees and commissions from insurance broking, transaction fees from payments, management/advisory fees from asset management, and income from payment bank operations. Funding comes from its liquid assets (post-demerger transfers), capital markets, promoter / shareholder equity, and internal accruals. Digital platforms play a key role in customer acquisition and service delivery.

  • 2002: Converted to public limited company; renamed Reliance Strategic Investments Limited.
  • 2023: Scheme of Arrangement with Reliance Industries became effective; demerger executed.
  • 2023: Name changed to Jio Financial Services Limited.
  • 2023: Listed on NSE & BSE as an independent company.
  • Mid-2023: Received sizeable transfer of cash and liquid assets (~₹15,500-₹20,700 crore) from Reliance Industries as part of demerger.
  • Late 2023: Formed 50:50 joint venture with BlackRock to enter asset management / wealth management business.
  • 2024: Launched “JioFinance” app offering digital payments, loans, insurance.
  • 2025: Acquired full ownership of Jio Payments Bank by buying out State Bank of India’s stake.
