Managing and Modifying Alerts

Setting alerts is just the beginning. Once your alerts are live, you need to know how to track, manage, and update them, especially if your strategy evolves or market conditions change.

TradingView makes it easy to view all your alerts in one place and make quick changes as needed.

  1. Click the “Alarm Clock” icon on the right-hand sidebar.
  2. This opens the Alert Panel, which shows: ○ All active alerts ○ Triggered alerts (history) ○ Expired or cancelled alerts

From here, you can manage every alert without going back to the chart.

Let’s say you set an alert for Reliance at ₹2,800 but now want to change it to ₹2,900.

Steps:

  1. Open the Alert Panel
  2. Find the alert → Click the small gear icon next to it.
  3. A window opens with your original conditions.
  4. Change the value, condition, or notification method.
  5. Click Save

Your updated alert will replace the old one instantly.

Sometimes, you may not want to delete an alert, just pause it for a while.

Steps:

  • In the Alert Panel, click the pause button (||) next to any alert.
  • Click again to resume.

This is helpful when:

  • Markets are closed.
  • You’re taking a break from trading.
  • You only want alerts during specific hours.

To remove an alert completely:

  • Open the Alert Panel
  • Click the ‘xicon next to the alert you want to delete.

You can also delete alerts directly from the chart by right-clicking on the alert line and selecting “Remove.”

Want to see which alerts were triggered in the past?

In the Alert Panel:

  • Click the “Triggered” tab.
  • This shows the date, time, and condition of every past alert.
  • Useful for tracking how often a condition occurred.

Alerts are only helpful if they stay relevant. As markets shift or your strategies evolve, keeping your alerts updated ensures you’re always getting the right signals at the right time.

Managing them regularly saves you from alert fatigue and missed opportunities.
