Using the Stock Screener Effectively

Looking for stocks manually is like searching for a needle in a haystack.

Instead, use the stock screener tool that helps you filter stocks based on specific criteria like price, volume, RSI, moving averages, market cap, and more.

TradingView’s built-in screener makes this easy, fast, and fully customizable.

A screener scans the market and shows only those stocks that meet your selected conditions.

For example:

  • Show me all NSE stocks with RSI < 30
  • Show me stocks up more than 3% today with strong volume
  • Show me stocks trading above 50 EMA and below 200 EMA

You set the rules → Screener shows the list → You analyze and trade

  1. On the bottom panel of the TradingView chart, click on “Stock Screener”
  2. By default, it opens for India (NSE/BSE) if your chart is on an Indian stock
  3. You’ll see a table with stock names and various metrics like price, % change, volume, etc.

To apply a filter:

  • Click on the “Filter” button at the top
  • Choose your condition
  • The screener instantly updates the list based on it

You can sort any column by clicking on its header:

  • Click on “% Change” to see top gainers
  • Click on “Volume” to find heavily traded stocks

You can also search specific sectors like IT, Pharma, or Banking using the screener’s group filters.

Let’s say you want to find potential bounce-back stocks.

Steps:

  1. Open the Stock Screener
  2. Filter for:
  • RSI < 30
  • Price > ₹100
  • Volume > 1L
  1. Sort by “% Change” to find which ones are starting to recover

Now you’ve got a list of oversold but liquid stocks which are perfect to explore further on the chart.

Click the gear icon on the top-right of the screener to:

  • Add/remove columns (e.g., add 50 EMA, Market Cap, etc.)
  • Rearrange columns based on what matters to you
  • Save your screener layout for reuse

Once you’ve created a useful filter setup:

  1. Click the “3 dots” on the top-right of the screener
  2. Select “Save Screen”
  3. Give it a name like “Oversold + Volume Swing Setup”

You can now reapply it in one click. No need to repeat the setup every time.

The stock screener is your idea generator. It replaces hours of manual search with focused opportunities that match your trading logic.

Use it regularly to stay ahead and pair it with chart analysis to make confident trading decisions.
