Pre-Market Chart Review on TradingView
What you do before the market opens often matters more than what you do after.
A simple, consistent pre-market review routine on TradingView can help you:
- Avoid impulsive trades
- Spot high-probability setups early
- Align with macro and technical context
In this chapter, we’ll outline a step-by-step framework you can follow in 15–20 minutes each morning.
Ideal Time to Start
For Indian markets:
Begin your review between 8:45 AM – 9:10 AM (before the 9:15 open)
For US markets:
Start 1 hour before the bell (8:30 AM EST)
Step-by-Step Pre-Market Review Routine
1. Review Global Cues (5 mins)
SGX Nifty or Gift Nifty | Symbol: SGXNIFTY or GIFTC1! |
US Indices Futures | ES1!, NQ1!, YM1! |
Crude Oil & Gold | USOIL, XAUUSD |
Dollar Index & USDINR | DXY, USDINR |
Check if global sentiment is risk-on or risk-off.
Note any overnight volatility.
2. Open Your Watchlist & Layouts (2 mins)
- Load your saved layout (e.g., “Intraday Setup”, “Swing Candidates”)
- Check your pre-selected watchlist
- Remove any outdated names, add fresh ones if needed
3. Analyse Index & Sector Trend (5 mins)
Open NIFTY, BANKNIFTY, MIDCAP | Spot broader trend direction |
Use 15-min and Daily timeframes | Align with both short- and medium-term |
Plot key levels (previous high/low, gaps, zones) | Identify breakout/breakdown levels |
Optional: Check sectoral indices like NIFTYIT, NIFTYFMCG, etc.
4. Run Screener or Check Alerts (3 mins)
- Run saved swing or intraday screeners
- Sort by % change pre-market (if volume data available)
- Check which alerts have already triggered or are close
This gives you a filtered list of candidates instead of hunting manually.
5. Mark Trade Levels on Candidate Charts (5 mins)
Open each shortlisted stock and:
- Mark support/resistance
- Add trendlines, zones, or gaps
- Set price alerts just above/below triggers
This becomes your “If this happens, then act” list.
Bonus Tools for Pre-Market Efficiency
Replay Mode | Quickly review how a stock moved yesterday |
Price Labels | Tag levels like “Gap Fill” or “Previous High” |
Notes | Write down trade plans or caution flags |
Alert Log | See what triggered overnight or pre-market |
To Sum Up
A pre-market review isn’t about prediction.
It’s about preparation - knowing what to look for, where to act, and what to avoid.
A calm 15-minute routine can help you trade less impulsively, react faster, and stick to your edge.
