Post-Market, 10 April 2026: Sensex Rises 918 Points, Nifty 50 Gains 1.16%

On Friday, both the Sensex and the Nifty ended in green. While the Sensex gained 1.20%, the Nifty 50 closed 1.16% higher.

Both the Nifty 50 and the BSE Sensex moved higher on Friday, 10 April, and closed in the positive territory. At the close, the Nifty 50 settled at 24,050.60, up by 1.16%. The BSE Sensex settled at 77,550.25, up by 1.20%.

The stronger performance in mid- and small-cap stocks points to continued buying interest beyond the benchmark-heavy names.

Asian Paints, Eicher Motors, Bajaj Auto, ICICI Bank and Mahindra & Mahindra were the top 5 performers on the Nifty 50. On the other hand, Coal India, Sun Pharma, Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services and Tech Mahindra were the top 5 worst performers, with Coal India’s share price tanking by 4.14%.

Analysts attributed Coal India’s share drop to the company’s decision to cut coal reserve prices under its single-window mode-agnostic e-auction segment.

In commodities, gold and silver prices traded marginally lower in the opening trade on Friday, 10 April. A firmer dollar weighed on both metals. However, easing inflation concerns and a slightly better global risk mood limited the downside.

At 15:51, Gold June futures were trading at ₹152,391 per 10 grams, down by 0.68%. Silver May futures were trading 1.24% lower at ₹240,751 per kilogram (kg).

While the West Asia conflict has paused, experts warn that the truce may be fragile. Any fresh escalation could drag down markets in the coming days and reverse the gains.
