Creating Indicator Templates

If you find yourself using the same set of indicators every time you open a chart, there’s a better way to save time use indicator templates on TradingView.

Templates let you save your preferred indicators and settings, so you don’t have to add them manually each time. One click, and your setup is ready.

Why Use Indicator Templates?

Let’s say you use:

• 50 EMA and 200 EMA to track trend.
• RSI to time entries
• MACD to confirm signals.

Adding all these again and again for each new chart wastes time. Instead, you can create a template once and reuse it forever.

How to Create an Indicator Template on TradingView

Step 1: Add the indicators you want.

• Click on the ‘Indicators’ button.
• Search and add each indicator (e.g., RSI, EMA, MACD)
• Customize the settings (periods, colours, etc.) as per your style.

Step 2: Open the “Indicator Template” menu.

• On the top of the chart, click on the small icon that looks like a sheet with a star (next to the indicator list)
• Select ‘Save Indicator Template’

Step 3: Give your template a name.

• Example: “Swing Trading Setup” or “RSI + MA Combo”
• Click Save

Step 4: Apply your template.

• On any chart, just open the same icon and select your saved template.
• All your indicators and settings will load instantly.

Example Use Cases

You can also create multiple templates for different types of trades—intraday, positional, long-term—and switch between them easily.

Editing and Deleting Templates

To update a template:

• Load it on a chart.
• Add or remove indicators.
• Then save it again with the same name to overwrite.

To delete a template:

• Click on the indicator template menu.
• Hover over the template name and click the small ‘x’ icon.
