Asking AI for Screeners with Specific Rules

The easiest way to use AI in stock screening is by giving it clear, rule-based conditions.

Think of it as telling the AI exactly what you want, instead of leaving it to guess.

Just like traditional screeners use filters, here you simply write those filters in plain English.

AI is flexible, but without rules it won’t know your definition of “cheap,” “strong,” or “good.” Numbers and conditions make your prompt specific.

  • Vague: “Show me undervalued stocks.”
  • Clear: “Show me Nifty 100 stocks with P/E below 15 and ROE above 15%.”

The second one gives you usable results.

One of the most common filters is the RSI (Relative Strength Index).

  • RSI above 70 → stock may be overbought.
  • RSI below 30 → stock may be oversold.

So if you ask AI:
“Find Indian banking stocks with RSI below 30.”
It will give you a list of oversold names, which you can then study further.

Rules can cover fundamentals, technicals, or both.

  • “Show me auto stocks under ₹500 with ROE above 12% and debt-to-equity below 0.5.”
  • “List IT companies trading above 200-day moving average and with profit growth in the last 3 years.”
  • “Find FMCG companies with RSI below 30 and sales growth above 10% for 5 years.”

By layering rules, you move from broad lists to focused shortlists.

  • Always use numbers: Price < ₹500, ROE > 15%, RSI < 30.
  • Add time frames: Profit growth over 3 years, volume average over 10 days.
  • Keep it simple: Don’t overload a single query with 10 conditions. Start with 2–3 and refine.
  • Sector or size filters: Mid-cap IT, large-cap banks, FMCG.

Specific rules are what make AI screeners useful.

Numbers, conditions, and timeframes bring clarity, while vague words only confuse the system.

Start with simple prompts, add layers step by step, and refine as you go.

The sharper your rules, the sharper and more reliable your shortlist will be.
