Getting Outputs in Usable Formats (Tables, Lists, Comparisons)

Once you’ve given AI a prompt with clear rules, the next step is to make sure the output is actually usable.

Long paragraphs of text may look detailed, but they’re hard to act on.

Instead, ask AI to format results in tables, lists, or side-by-side comparisons.

This way you save time, avoid clutter, and turn raw output into research you can work with.

A stock shortlist is only useful if it’s easy to read and compare. Imagine screening 50 stocks and getting back a paragraph for each — it becomes overwhelming. Structured formats make things clear.

  • Tables

Tables are the most powerful format when working with stock data.

Example Prompt:
“Show me Indian auto stocks under ₹500 with ROE above 12% and RSI below 30. Give the results in a table with columns for Stock Name, Price, ROE, RSI, and Debt-to-Equity.”

This way, you can immediately compare across metrics.

  • Lists

If you only want names, a simple list works best.

Example Prompt:
“List FMCG stocks with profit growth for 5 years and trading above 200-day moving average. Show only stock names.”

  • Company A
  • Company B
  • Company C

Quick, clean, and ready to use.

  • Comparisons

Sometimes you’re stuck between two or three companies. AI can prepare side-by-side comparisons.

Example Prompt:
“Compare Infosys, TCS, and Wipro on P/E, ROE, and profit growth in the last 3 years. Give results in a table.”

This helps you decide at a glance.

  • Always ask for a format: table, list, or comparison.
  • Specify columns in a table to avoid irrelevant data.
  • For comparisons, limit the number of companies (2–4) so the table stays readable.
  • Follow up with refinements like: “Now add dividend yield column.”

AI in screening isn’t just about finding stocks — it’s about presenting results in a format you can actually use.

Tables make comparisons easier, lists keep things simple, and side-by-side views highlight differences clearly.

By asking for structured outputs, you turn raw data into insights you can act on with confidence.
