Shares of Amir Chand Jagdish Kumar have continuously hit lower circuits since listing. The stock has fallen more than 40% from its issue price amid weak sentiment and low investor confidence.

A newly listed stock falling on debut is not unusual. But staying locked in lower circuits right after listing is a strong signal of weak market confidence.

That is exactly what has happened with Amir Chand Jagdish Kumar (Exports), maker of the famous basmati rice brand “Aeroplane”, whose shares have consistently hit lower circuits since listing, eroding investor wealth within days.

At 10:30 on 9 April 2026, Amir Chand Jagdish Kumar’s share price hit a 5% lower circuit to reach ₹124.66.

The trouble started right from the listing day. The stock was listed on 2 April 2026, but instead of a good opening, it was listed below the issue price. The initial public offering (IPO) was priced at ₹212 per share, but the National Stock Exchange (NSE) opening price was ₹200 (down 5.66%), and the BSE opening was ₹195 (down 8.02%). Since then, it has gone down by over 40%, causing anxiety among its investors. This weak listing clearly showed that demand wasn’t very strong.

After the listing, selling pressure rose swiftly as the shares declined by 10% to ₹180 on day one and were 15% lower than the issue price at the end of day 1. The decline continued in subsequent days, where the stock continued to hit lower circuits by reaching an approximate price of ₹175.50, a decline of approximately 17% or more from the IPO price.

Several factors seem to be behind the sharp fall in the stock:

  • Global tensions: Exports form a big part of the company’s business. Around 38% of FY25 revenue (about ₹2,004 crore) came from exports, and nearly 22% of that is linked to West Asia. Any tension in the region affects sentiment.

  • Weak market mood: The stock listed on a weak day. Both the BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 fell over 2%, which added pressure from the start.

  • Selling pressure: Once the stock hit lower circuits, selling picked up. That created a loop. More selling led to further decline, and the fall continued.

This is a clear example of listing risk in IPOs. Amir Chand Jagdish Kumar’s IPO looked strong on paper. The issue size stood at ₹440 crore. It saw an overall subscription of around 3x, with non-institutional investors (NIIs) bidding over 13x their quota.

Yet, the stock has seen sharp losses. Weak market sentiment and sector-related risks have weighed on performance.

This shows a simple point. Subscription numbers alone are not enough. Investors need to look at the quality of demand, the company’s financials, and broader risks before making a decision.
