NTPC’s revenue grew over 12% YoY

  • NTPC reported 0.3% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) increase in its consolidated revenues for the quarter ended June (Q1FY25). On a year-on-year (YoY) basis, it witnessed a growth of 12.9%.
  • Its expenses for the quarter were up by 2.9% QoQ and 13.2% YoY.
  • The net profit reduced by 15.2% QoQ and grew 12.2% YoY.
  • The earnings per share (EPS) of NTPC stood at ₹5.3 during Q1FY25.

NTPC’s Financial Statements for Q1FY25:

Financials:

  • Revenue: ₹48,982 crores, a 12.9% increase from ₹43,390 crores year-on-year.
  • Profit after tax: 12.2% YoY increase to ₹5,506.07 crores from ₹4,907 crores.
  • Expenses: Increased to ₹41,844.18 crores from ₹36,963.61 crores.
  • Power Generation: Rose to 114 billion units (BUs) in Q1FY25 from 104 billion units in Q1FY24."
  • Earnings per share: ₹5.3.
  • EBITDA: ₹14,017 crores, up 9% from ₹12,855 crores.
  • EBITDA Margin: 28.9%, compared to 29.8% a year ago.

New Business Development Highlights:

Foray into Nuclear Power Sector

  • Signed a Supplementary JV Agreement with Nuclear Power Corporation of India for development of Nuclear Power Projects.
  • Project of 2.8 GW capacity (Approximate Cost - 2017 level:₹42,000 crores) is under active consideration for an award.
  • Exploring Small Modular Reactor technology in collaboration with BARC.

Global Footsteps

  • 1320 MW thermal power plant commissioned in Bangladesh.
  • Developing a 50 MW (extendable to 120 MW) solar power project in Sri Lanka.
  • PMC for implementation of 6620 MW projects in 12 countries of Africa & Latin America.
  • PMC for setting up solar demonstration projects in 10 ISA member countries.
