BSE Limited was established in 1875 as “The Native Share & Stock Brokers’ Association” and incorporated as a company in 1957. Its registered office is at Phiroze Jeejeebhoy Towers, Dalal Street, Mumbai. As India’s oldest stock exchange, it is listed on NSE (BSE) and BSE (532809). BSE provides a full suite of capital market services including equities, derivatives, currency and debt trading, mutual fund distribution, and benchmarking indices such as the SENSEX.

BSE operates multiple business verticals:

  • Capital Markets: Equity, derivatives, currency, debt, and mutual fund trading.
  • Post-Trade Services: Clearing, settlement, and depository operations.
  • Technology Solutions: Providing trading platforms and software to exchanges, brokers, and financial institutions.
  • Data & Indices: Licensing of SENSEX, Nifty (via joint ventures), and market data distribution.

Revenue primarily comes from transaction fees on trading, clearing and settlement charges, platform and licensing income, as well as membership and subscription fees. Technology services are offered both domestically and internationally.
