Suzlon has secured a 100 MW wind project from GAIL, its sixth repeat order. It will install 47 turbines while managing the full project, strengthening its public sector order book.

Shares of Suzlon Group are in focus after the company said it has secured a 100 MW wind energy project from Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL). It marked its sixth repeat order from the state-run firm. At 12:51 pm, shares of Suzlon Energy Ltd, the flagship company within the group, were trading 2.98% higher at ₹41.13 per share on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

The order also adds to Suzlon’s public sector pipeline. The company said this is its fourth contract from a PSU in the current financial year, following orders from National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), among others.

Suzlon will deploy 47 S120 wind turbine generators for the project. Each turbine will have a rated capacity of 2.1 MW. The company will manage the entire project cycle. This includes:

  • Supply of turbines

  • Erection and installation

  • Commissioning

  • Operations and maintenance services

The project will be located in Maharashtra. It marks the first collaboration between the two companies in the state.

Ajay Kapur, CEO of Suzlon Group, said the latest order builds on a partnership with GAIL that spans over 15 years. The two companies have worked together on projects across Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. The Maharashtra project expands that relationship into a new region.

Repeat orders from PSUs have been a steady source of business for Suzlon. The company has been focusing on this segment as government-backed firms step up renewable energy investments.

Suzlon said it currently has more than 2.2 GW of installed wind energy capacity in Maharashtra. This accounts for around 38% of the state’s total wind capacity.

The state remains one of India’s key hubs for wind energy development. The company’s existing base gives it a strong footing for new projects in the region.

The order comes as India pushes to add more clean energy capacity. The government has set a 500 GW non-fossil fuel target by 2030. It aims for net-zero emissions by 2070. This is lifting demand for wind, solar, and hybrid projects.
