Franklin Templeton Mutual Fund, a subsidiary of Franklin Templeton Investments, a U.S.-based financial services company, commenced its operations in India in 1996 under the name Templeton Asset Management India Pvt. Limited. It received registration from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in February of the same year. The company made its foray into the mutual fund arena with the launch of Templeton India Growth Fund, now known as Templeton India Value Fund in November 1996.
