Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers Limited (RCF) is a chemical manufacturing company that was established on 6 March 1978. The main purpose of the company was the production and marketing of fertilisers and industrial chemicals. It operates several manufacturing facilities, which include 20 operating plants at Trombay and five large plants at the Thal fertiliser unit in Maharashtra.

The company produces many chemicals like methanol, sodium nitrate, ammonium bicarbonate, and many more. 75% of the stake in RCF is held by the government of India, and it is the fourth-largest government-owned fertiliser producer. The company is listed on the National Stock Exchange as (NSE: RCF) and the Bombay Stock Exchange as (BOM: 524230).

RCF mainly operates through two business segments: fertilisers and industrial chemicals. The company's main purpose is to manufacture and sell agricultural fertilisers. It also produces industrial chemicals to diversify its revenue. Its main income comes from fertiliser and chemical sales, supported by government fertiliser subsidies. RCF also trades imported fertilisers like DAP and MOP and generates solar power as part of its green energy initiatives.

1978: RCF was formed after the reorganisation of the Fertiliser Corporation of India.

1981–1985: Large fertiliser plant established in Thal, Maharashtra.

1988 & 1998: Many farmers’ Training Centres started at Nagpur and Thal.

1996: Launch of “Suphala” NPK fertiliser which became a major selling product.

2020–21: Achieved record production and sales of Ammonium Nitrate and trimethylamine.

2023: Received Navratna status from the Government of India.

2023–24: Started production of Sulphur Coated Urea (Urea Gold) using indigenous technology.

2024–25: Revenue reached ₹16,933.64 crore and continued importing urea as a State Trading Enterprise (STE).

  • It also works on reducing energy consumption and improving operational efficiency, as well as taking initiatives like wastewater treatment and population control measures.

  • Received the Social Forestry Award from the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
  • Won the Dr. R. J. Rathi Award for Environmental Pollution Control.
  • Awarded the Green Touch Foundation Safety Gold Award.
  • Received ISO 14001 Environmental Certification and OHSAS 18001 certification.
