Cochin Shipyard Business Segments and Revenue Model

CSL’s revenue comes primarily from shipbuilding and ship repair & refit segments. In shipbuilding it constructs commercial vessels (bulk carriers, tankers, supply/offshore vessels, Ro-Ro/Passenger, defense ships like fast patrol vessels and indigenous aircraft carriers) both for domestic clients such as the Indian Navy, ONGC, and Coast Guard, as well as international customers. In ship repair, it services large vessels up to ~125,000 DWT, including aircraft carriers, rigs, oil exploration vessels, scheduled maintenance and life-extension work. It also has a training vertical — the Marine Engineering Training Institute (METI) — which produces marine engineering graduates. CSR and other non-core support such as infrastructure and dry dock expansion complement revenue.
