How do I activate the Equity F&O (Derivatives) segment as an NRO customer?
To activate Equity F&O in your NRO account, click here
Alternatively, you can follow the steps given below:
- Login to your NRO trading account via the Neo mobile app or website
- Click on the Profile section from top right
- Click on Account details and go to Segments
- Click on Activate segment(s) and select F&O (NSE/BSE)
- Click on Auto fetch bank statement to provide a verified bank statement from account aggregator (Faster and recommended). Follow a few simple steps and confirm your request. Alternatively, click on Upload manually. Upload the selected document ensuring it is clear and meets the eligibility criteria and proceed to confirm your request.
- Equity F&O (Derivatives) segment will be activated in 1-2 days.
You will be notified once your segment is activated. You can also check segment status under "Account details" in Profile section.
Note: Equity F&O segment activation is applicable only to NRO accounts. As per regulatory guidelines, NRE account holders are not permitted to trade in the Equity F&O segment.
NRO clients can trade in Equity F&O. Currency and Commodity Derivatives are not permitted as per exchange guidelines.
Accepted Document types for income proof:

Bank statement for the last 6 months with at least one credit entry of ₹10,000 or more. The statement must be in the name of the Kotak Neo NRO account holder. Joint bank account statements are not accepted. (Example: For the month of October 2025, the customer can submit bank statement from 1st April 2025 to 30th September 2025)

The latest salary slip with net monthly income exceeding ₹10,000 (Example: For the month of October 2025, customer can submit salary slip of September 2025)

Certificate of net worth more than ₹10,00,000

Latest ITR (Income Tax Return) acknowledgement (Example: For the month of October 2025, customer can submit ITR acknowledgement of FY2024-25)

Form 16 with gross annual income exceeding ₹1,20,000 (Example: For the month of October 2025, customer can submit Form16 of FY2024-25)

Latest Demat holdings statement with current holding value equal to or exceeding ₹10,000
Document formats supported: PDF, JPEG, JPG, PNG
Max size: 5 MB

In case the holding valuation in your NRO demat account is equal to or more than ₹10,000, you will not be asked to upload any document

Dormant/Inactive NRO accounts need to be activated first before submitting a segment activation request
