National Highways Infra Trust are a registered infrastructure investment trust under the InvIT Regulations. Their Sponsor is NHAI i.e. The National Highways Authority of India, an autonomous authority of the GoI established on June 15, 1989. The Trust was made operational in February, 1995. NHAI is responsible for the development, maintenance and management of the national highways in India entrusted to it by the Central Government. National Highways Infra Investment Managers Private Limited (NHIIMPL) has been appointed as the Investment Manager to NHIT. The Toll Roads comprise five stretches of toll roads located in the Indian states of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Karnataka. Two Toll Roads are located in Southern India while the remaining 3 are located in Central Western India. The Sponsor, NHAI is Indias national agency responsible for the development, maintenance and management of Indias national highways network. The Sponsor has a consistent track record of growth and operational performance. He manages the development of National Highways Development Project (NHDP) under the mandate of MoRTH, GoI to develop 46,635 kilometers of roads, 30,508 kilometers of which have already been laned. Currently, another 10,640 kilometers are being implemented under 319 contracts. The Sponsor has completed construction of 7,573 kilometres and 8,169 kilometers of national highways during FY20 and FY21, which amounts to construction of 28.16 kilometers of road on a daily basis. As part of the NHDP, Sponsor infuses funds into immediate areas of development and enables private sector participation bringing about a healthy participatory economy.The Sponsor is involved in the Bharatmala Pariyojana project. Out of the total 34,800 kms of approval granted by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) to Sponsor for Phase1 of Bharatmala Pariyojana, Sponsor already completed construction of 27,500 kms of national highways as part of the Bharatmala Pariyojana, Phase1.During FY 202122, the Trust acquired 100% equity control in National Highway Infra Projects Private Limited from the Sponsor with effect from 3rd November, 2021.NHIT through its two wholly owned Special Purchase Vehicle (SPV), NHIT Western Projects Private Limited (NWPPL) (formerly known as National Highways Infra Projects Private Limited) and NHIT Eastern Projects Private Limited (NEPPL) has entered into 15 independent concession agreements with NHAI for toll roads against a concession fee of over Rs 26,000 crore. The concession agreements for first bundle (5 operating toll roads) became effective on 16th December, 2021, for second bundle (3 operating toll roads) on 29th October, 2022 and for third bundle (7 operating toll roads) on 1st April, 2024.During FY 202324, the Trust invested in the equity share capital of the NHIT Eastern Projects Private Limited (Project SPV NEPPL) holding 100% equity share capital. In March 2025, NHAI completed largest InvIT Monetization of over Rs 18,380 Crores where NHIT has raised Rs 8,340 Crores in unit capital from marquee domestic and international investors along with Rs 10,040 Crores in debt from domestic lenders.NHIT commissioned an advanced WatertoHydrogen Dual Fuel Generator System at the Raibha Toll Plaza on the Agra Bypass Project in FY26. NHAI monetised over 310 km of National Highways under InvIT Round5, which was awarded to NHIT Western Projects Private Limited for Rs 6,367 crore and this resulted the Trust to expand the portfolio comprising 28 road projects having aggregate length of 2,653 km across the 12 states in 2026. The specified assets for the enterprise value was Rs 57,373 crores, with a postdistribution Net Asset Value of Rs150.47 per unit as at March 31, 2026. The Project SPV1, NHIT Western Projects Private Limited (NWPPL) has commenced operations for Tolling, Management, Maintenance and Transfer of 2 (Two) toll road projects on April 1, 2026.
