Industry Outlook
Technical textiles are engineered fabrics built for function rather than appearance. They serve automotive, healthcare, construction and agricultural applications, and India's technical textiles market is projected to grow from US $28.5 billion in Fiscal 2025 to US $47.0 billion in Fiscal 2030, a CAGR of 10.5%, according to the Frost & Sullivan report. Woven Raffia is the largest slice. It accounted for US $8.4 billion, or 29.5% of the Indian technical textiles market, in Fiscal 2025.
Machinery demand tracks that end-market. The global woven Raffia machinery market was estimated at US $1,008 million in 2024 and is expected to reach US $1,369 million by 2030, a CAGR of 5.2%. India is growing faster. The domestic woven Raffia machinery market stood at US $150.0 million in Fiscal 2025 and is projected to reach US $242.0 million by Fiscal 2030, a CAGR of 10.0%. Rising infrastructure spending on cement and construction, together with wider use of Raffia sacks in food grains, chemicals, fertilizers and agriculture, is expected to support machinery demand between 2025 and 2030.
India ranks second globally as a market for woven sack machinery as of 2025, supported by its position as the world's leading exporter of flexible intermediate bulk containers and by domestic demand from the agricultural, fertilizer and cement sectors. The underlying global woven Raffia market was valued at about US $69.4 billion in 2024 and is expected to reach US $100.3 billion by 2030, a CAGR of 6.3%. Lohia Corp held 15.4% of the global woven Raffia machinery market by value in 2024 and 40.7% of the Indian market by value in Fiscal 2025.
The sector carries identifiable headwinds. Environmental regulation and anti plastic sentiment group woven bags with single use plastics in several regions, biodegradable and jute-based substitutes are gaining ground in eco-sensitive markets, and low-cost Chinese and other Asian machinery suppliers have increased price pressure on Indian manufacturers.
