Sharda Motor Industries Limited (SMIL) was incorporated on January 29, 1986 under the Companies Act, 1956 with the Registrar of Companies NCT Delhi Haryana and received the Certificate of Commencement of Business on January 31, 1986. The Company is presently engaged in manufacturing and assembly of Auto Components. The Companys production includes Exhaust Systems, Catalytic Converters, Suspension Systems, Sheet Metal Components and Plastic parts for Automotive. Apart from these, the Company serves as a Tier I vendor for some of major Automobiles and Electronics Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). During the year 201819, NDR Auto Components Limited (NACL) was incorporated as Wholly Owned Subsidiary of the Company as Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) wherein the entire Automobile Seating Business of the Company was demerged as separate entity post the sanction/ approval of Scheme of Arrangement through Demerger by the requisite Authorities.In FY 202021, through the Scheme of Arrangement between the Company and NDR Auto Components Limited (NACL), the Seating Business Undertakings of the Company was demerged into and with n NDR Auto Components Limited, making the Scheme of Demerger effective on March 16, 2020. Consequently the Board of Directors of NDR Auto Components Limited had allotted 59,46,326 Equity shares of Rs. 10/ to the members of the Company on March 12, 2020 in consideration for transfer of the Company. During the year 202122, the Company got into a Joint Venture (JV) Agreement with Kinetic Green Energy Power Solutions Limited on June 23, 2021, in the ratio of 74:26 i.e. (SMIL: 74 Kinetic: 26) for manufacturing Battery Packs along with BMS /related systems or other alternative fuel systems for Electric Vehicles or other applications such as stationary applications, or any other alternative fuel technology products such as hydrogen fuelbased systems, other components related to electric/hybrid vehicles. Resulting to this, from November 22, 2021, both the Joint Venture partners invested in their Joint Venture ratio Udippt Mobility Private Limited to undertake the Business Activities and Udippt Mobility Private Limited became Subsidiary of the Company on November 22, 2021.The Company established third plant at Chakan in 2024. It scaled up the Lightweighting Vertical by increasing the market share in control arms axle assemblies.

For the full year FY2025–2026, revenue reached ₹2919.85 crore and profit touched at ₹312.44 crore. As of Mar '26, Sharda Motor Industries’s market capitalisation stood at ₹4,988.73 crores. Shareholding as of Mar '26 shows promoters holding 64.3%, with FIIs at 2.4%, DIIs at 11.5%, and public at 21.8%.
