Orient Cement Limited was incorporated in July, 2011. The Cement Undertaking of Orient Paper Industries Limited (OPIL) was transferred to the Company as a going concern w.e.f 1st April 2012, pursuant to the Scheme of Arrangement approved by the Honble High Court of Orissa.The Company is primarily engaged in the manufacture and sale of Cement and manufacturing facilities are located at Devapur in Telangana, Jalgaon in Maharashtra and Chittapur in Karnataka with a combined installed and commissioned cement capacity of 8.50 MTPA as at March 31, 2026. The Companys new green field integrated cement plant at Chittapur in Karnataka commenced the production w.e.f. 26th September 2015.During the year 2017, the Company automated systems to identify quality deviations and address them with speed and precision. It strengthened quality norms enforced through central monitoring and cement labs across its manufacturing plants. Further, the Company commissioned a concrete lab at its Chittapur plant to showcase its product efficacy through its use in concrete.The Company launched its premium cement Birla.A1 StrongCrete in 201819. It further launched another premium product, under the brand name Birla.A1 OrientGreen in 2023. It launched Birla.A1 Dolphin in 2023. Further, a water repellent cement Birla.A1 Dolphin has been launched in FY 2024. The Company commissioned 10.1 MW Waste Heat Recovery System (WHRS) at its Chittapur Plant in 2024. Flyash rake handling system became operational in 2025. Furthermore, a 3.7 MW solar power project under the captive scheme was commissioned, supporting the supply of green power to Jalgaon grinding unit in FY25.Ambuja acquired 46.66% of the equity share capital of the Company, thereby obtained control and became the Promoter of the Company in FY26. On December 22, 2025, the Board approved the Scheme of Amalgamation of the Company with and into Ambuja Cements Limited from May 1, 2025.

As of Jun '26, Orient Cement’s market capitalisation stood at ₹2,664.40 crores. Shareholding as of Jun '26 shows promoters holding 72.7%, with FIIs at 4.1%, DIIs at 2.2%, and public at 21%.
