Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) is India's largest engineering and manufacturing enterprise in the energy and infrastructure sectors. Incorporated in 1964, it evolved from an earlier entity established in 1956, consolidating India’s heavy electrical machinery capacity. BHEL is a central public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Heavy Industries, headquartered in New Delhi and listed on both BSE (500103) and NSE (BHEL).

BHEL delivers an integrated suite of offerings: design, engineering, manufacturing, construction, testing, commissioning, and servicing of equipment across key sectors – power (thermal, hydro, gas, nuclear, solar PV), transmission, industry, rail transportation, oil & gas, defence & aerospace, and new verticals like EV chargers and battery energy storage systems (BESS). Its portfolio spans over 180 products, including turbines, boilers, generators, transformers, rail traction equipment, naval guns, and control systems. Revenue streams include project execution contracts, product sales, after-sales services, and overseas exports.

  • FY 2024–25: Commissioned 8.1 GW of generation capacity.
  • 2025: Awarded major contracts including ₹11,800 crore LoI for Hasdeo thermal plant (2×660 MW) and ₹7,500 crore EPC for Ukai expansion (800 MW); extended technology collaborations for heat recovery steam generators and advanced HVDC transmission.
