Industry Outlook
India remains one of the world’s largest gold consumers. India’s gold demand rose 5% to 803 tonnes in 2024 from 761 tonnes in 2023, before easing to 711 tonnes in 2025 as prices climbed sharply. Gold imports into India stood at US$ 69 billion in Fiscal 2026, up from US$ 53.52 billion in Fiscal 2025, even as import volumes moderated to roughly 757.03 tonnes. Gold imports currently attract customs duty of 15%.
Refining is a key node in the value chain. India’s gold refining market was valued at 333 tonnes, of which 226 tonnes came from doré imports and the balance from scrap, and the organised segment accounts for approximately 80% to 85% of formal refining capacity. Doré imports carry a duty advantage of close to 0.65% over refined gold, supporting domestic refining economics.
The bullion market is fragmenting toward organised players. The unorganised sector still accounts for 58.4% of the total Indian bullion market, while organised players comprise about 39%. Digital gold, allowing investments as low as ₹1, alongside ETFs, coins, and bars, is widening participation. Augmont Enterprises operates across both the organised bullion and digital gold segments, positioning it to capture this formalisation.
About Augmont Enterprises
Augmont Enterprises Limited is an integrated gold and silver platform present across 24 states as of March 31, 2026. Its ‘Augmont SPOT’ platform, a fully electronic over-the-counter delivery-based bullion platform, became operational in 2012 and serves jewellers, bullion dealers, and manufacturers. Deliveries are fulfilled through 20 spot delivery centres across 13 states, of which nine are operated directly and 11 through franchisees. The consumer platform ‘Augmont Gold For All’ was launched in Fiscal 2021.
Enterprise and international sales dominate the revenue mix. These channels represented 92.90%, 95.72%, and 95.88% of revenue from operations for Fiscals 2026, 2025, and 2024, respectively. The company also refines imported doré bars and sells finished gold and silver products. In Fiscal 2026, it began facilitating the trading of lab-grown diamonds on the ‘Augmont SPOT’ platform.
Strengths of Augmont Enterprises
- The company operates an integrated model spanning procurement, refining, bullion trading, digital gold, jewellery manufacturing, international sales, and gold-backed financial services under the well-established ‘Augmont’ brand.
- A diversified business across enterprise sales, consumer offerings, and refining reduces dependence on any single segment and creates operating synergies.
- Efficient procurement combines refined bullion from Indian and international banks, doré imports refined in-house, and scrap sourcing, supported by 20 spot delivery centres across 13 states.
- A scalable, in-house technology ecosystem powers real-time, second-by-second price discovery on the ‘Augmont SPOT’ and ‘Augmont Gold For All’ platforms.
- Profit after tax grew from ₹75.97 crore in FY 24 to ₹348.30 crore in FY 26, a compound annual growth rate of 114.12%.
Risks of Augmont Enterprises
- Volatility in gold and silver prices affects both product demand and the valuation of inventory, directly exposing margins and cash flows to commodity swings.
- The business depends on continuous, cost-effective procurement of bullion, and sanctions, import duties, or export controls in sourcing regions could disrupt supply and raise costs.
- The top 10 customers accounted for 52.09% of revenue from operations in FY 26 with no long-term contracts, creating dependency risk if key customers are lost.
- Accurate price discovery is central to competitiveness, and any pricing error or disruption to the technology driving it could harm reputation and sales.
- The company cannot access debt financing for working capital, so any inability to secure adequate, cost-effective funding could constrain liquidity and operations.
