Industry Outlook
India's healthcare sector is expanding quickly. The Indian healthcare industry continued its healthy growth in 2023 and reached a value of US$ 372 billion, driven by both the private sector and the government. As of 2024, it was one of India's largest employers, employing a total of 7.5 million people.
Hospitals form the core of this market. The hospital industry in India was forecast to grow to Rs. 8.6 lakh crore (US$ 132.84 billion) by FY22 from Rs. 4 lakh crore (US$ 61.79 billion) in FY17, a CAGR of 16–17%. Demand keeps rising. The wider Indian healthcare market, valued at US$ 110 billion in 2016, is projected to reach US$ 638 billion by 2025. Growth is broadening beyond the metros. Private hospital operators are increasingly expanding into Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, where organised tertiary care remains under-served. ABH Healthcare operates in this exact space, delivering tertiary care from a 150-bed facility in Ferozepur, Punjab, and is positioned to benefit from the shift of specialised medical demand into smaller cities.
About ABH Healthcare Limited
ABH Healthcare runs a 150-bed tertiary care hospital in Ferozepur, Punjab. The hospital operates under the “Anil Baghi Hospital” brand and was originally established in 1985 with 30 beds. The company acquired the business in 2022 and has since expanded bed capacity, added services, and grown its clinical workforce.
It offers 25 medical specialties. These span cardiac sciences, neurology, minimally invasive spine and brain surgery, gastroenterology, urology, pulmonology, nephrology, obstetrics and gynaecology, adult and neonatal critical care, and orthopedics and joint replacement, among others. As of 31 March 2025, the Company had a medical team of 29 doctors and 137 nurses.
Strengths of ABH Healthcare
- The hospital delivers diversified operations across 25 clinical specialties and a mixed payor base of self-pay patients, private insurers, and government schemes, reducing concentration on any single specialty or payor.
- A robust operating infrastructure combines a computerised physician order entry system, an electronic health record platform, and advanced equipment such as cath labs, CT and MRI machines, and a neurosurgery microscope.
- The hospital holds NABH accreditation from 2021 and NABH Digital Standards accreditation from Fiscal 2025, supporting its positioning as a tertiary-care provider in the region.
Risks of ABH Healthcare
- All of the company's revenue is derived from its single hospital in Ferozepur, Punjab, so any local economic, political, or operational disruption there could severely reduce total revenue.
- The business is heavily dependent on its promoters and key medical personnel, and with only 29 doctors as of 31 March 2025, the loss of senior clinicians could disrupt clinical operations.
- The company does not own the premises housing its registered office and hospital, so the loss of these leased premises could interrupt its ability to provide services.
- A portion of revenue depends on tie-ups with government schemes and third-party payers, so delays or changes in these arrangements could affect collections and cash flow.
