Publishing Your Own Ideas
Once you’re comfortable with charts and analysis, the next step is sharing your own trading ideas on TradingView.
Publishing ideas not only helps you keep a record of your analysis, it also builds your credibility, allows feedback from the community, and improves your decision-making over time.
What Is a Published Idea?
A published idea is a post you create that includes:
- A chart snapshot with drawings or indicators
- A title and description of your view
- Optional tags (e.g., “Breakout,” “Trendline,” “RSI”)
Ideas can be either public (visible to everyone) or private (only you can view them).
Why Publish Your Ideas?
Track your thinking | You can revisit what you saw and why |
Get community feedback | Other traders might comment or follow up |
Build a personal brand | Grow a follower base on TradingView |
Stay accountable | Writing it out makes your strategy clearer |
How to Publish an Idea on TradingView
Step-by-step:
- Open your chart
Finalize your view, trendlines, indicators, and zoom level. - Click on “Publish” (top-right of the chart window)
- Choose “Publish Idea” (not “Publish Script”)
- Fill in the form:
○ Title: Keep it short but meaningful (e.g., “Breakout Setup on HDFC Bank”)
○ Description: Explain what you see. Mention support/resistance, patterns, or indicators involved.
○ Tags: Add relevant keywords like RSI, EMA, Breakout, etc.
○ Choose whether it’s Long, Short, or Neutral - Click “Publish”
Your idea goes live and appears in the Ideas feed.
Example: What a Good Idea Looks Like
Title: "Tata Motors Testing Support at ₹870"
Description:
“Tata Motors has pulled back to its previous breakout level around ₹870. RSI is near 40, and price is holding above the 50 EMA. Watching for a possible bounce or breakdown. Will wait for a daily candle close to confirm.”
