Markets stayed weak, but earnings kept stocks buzzing. CEAT and Bandhan Bank impressed, REC disappointed, while several insurers and GRSE posted steady numbers. More Q4 results arrive today.

Indian equity markets extended their decline on Tuesday, 29 April, due to escalating tensions in West Asia and the Reserve Bank of India’s latest credit norms. Not only that, tighter lending rules also added pressure, particularly on banking stocks.

The Nifty 50 closed 0.40% lower at 23,995, while the BSE Sensex fell 0.54% to settle at 76,886, compared with Monday’s close.

Here are some of the key stocks in focus:

CEAT: The company delivered a robust performance in the fourth quarter, with net profit surging to ₹244 crore from ₹100 crore in the same period last year.

Bandhan Bank: The bank reported a rise of 68% YoY in net profit and an increase of 1.4% in net interest income.

REC: The company’s net profit fell to ₹3,362.3 crore from ₹4,236.2 crore, and net interest income declined by 16%.

Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers: The company reported a strong Jan-Mar quarter with net profit rising by 24% YoY to ₹303.19 crore from ₹244.2 crore.

Star Health & Allied Insurance Company: The company reported a growth of 13.9% YoY in its premium income. Its underwriting losses narrowed to ₹154.28 crore.

AWL Agri Business: The company’s revenue increased by 17.7% to ₹21,465 crore and EBITDA margins expanded to 16.8%.

Go Digit General Insurance: The company posted a stable fourth-quarter performance, with gross written premium increasing 6.18% year-on-year to ₹2,735.7 crore, compared to ₹2,576.4 crore in the same period last year.

A host of companies, including Bajaj Finance, Adani Power, Indian Bank, Federal Bank, IIFL Finance and Vedanta, are scheduled to announce their quarterly results today.
