Hyundai Share Price In Focus After Record Q2 Sales Of 2.19 Lakh Vehicles, Despite A 24% Fall In Quarterly Profit
Hyundai Motor India records its highest-ever quarterly sales volume as revenue grows 18.5%, but higher raw-material costs contribute to a 23.9% profit decline.

Hyundai Motor India’s second-quarter revenue rose 18.5% year-on-year to ₹20,696 crore, while net profit fell 23.9% to ₹1,196 crore. The company recorded its highest-ever quarterly sales volume, but higher raw-material costs weighed on profitability.

Hyundai Motor India Limited reported revenue of ₹20,696.1 crore for the quarter ended 30 September 2026, up 18.5% from ₹17,460.8 crore a year earlier. However, net profit declined 23.9% to ₹1,196.2 crore from ₹1,572.3 crore.

The company’s investor presentation identified raw-material cost inflation as a key pressure on quarterly profitability. The earnings report was released at the end of the trading session on 28 October 2026.

On the same day, the Hyundai share price closed at ₹1,866.90 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), up 0.30% from the previous close of ₹1,861.30. The stock opened at ₹1,870, touched an intraday high of ₹1,939.10, and fell to a low of ₹1,857.40.

Despite higher sales, earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) fell 18.7% to ₹1,974.5 crore from ₹2,428.9 crore. The EBITDA margin narrowed to 9.5% from 13.9% a year earlier. Earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) declined 25.8% to ₹1,419.1 crore from ₹1,911.4 crore.

Sports utility vehicle (SUV) sales increased to 1,11,756 units from 99,220 a year earlier. Hatchback volumes rose to 31,956 units from 22,620, while sedan sales reached 22,060 units, compared with 17,681.

Compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles accounted for 19% of the domestic fuel mix, up from 15% a year earlier. Electric vehicles (EVs) represented 2%, while petrol and diesel accounted for 59% and 20%, respectively. The company also reported its highest-ever quarterly CNG contribution of 19.1%.

Raw-material costs rose to 73.8% of revenue in Q2 FY27, compared with 70.1% in the year-earlier quarter. Hyundai’s average selling price improved by 2% to ₹8,07,000 per vehicle, while domestic discounts declined 8.2% to ₹23,000 per vehicle. Localisation increased from 82% to 84%, supporting supply-chain resilience and cost competitiveness.

The company also highlighted progress at its Pune facility, which crossed one lakh vehicles produced within eight months of operations. It said cumulative exports from India reached four million units. These milestones add to the business developments outlined in its quarterly presentation.
