Vedanta Power Shares Jump Over 15% After Q2 FY27 Profit Turns Positive At ₹83 Crore, Revenue Rises 38% To ₹2,908 Crore
Vedanta Power stock rallies over 15% following September quarter profit turnaround.

Vedanta Power shares rose over 15% after the company reported a Q2 FY27 net profit of ₹83 crore, reversing last year's loss. Revenue increased 38% to ₹2,908 crore, while EBITDA jumped 122%.

Vedanta Power shares rallied more than 15% on Friday, 30 October, reaching ₹33.89 apiece on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) after the company returned to profit in the September quarter. Vedanta Power Q2 results were announced on Thursday.

The company reported a net profit of ₹83 crore for Q2 FY27, against a loss of ₹1,688 crore in the same quarter last year. It had also posted a loss of ₹423 crore in the June quarter. Revenue from operations rose 38% year on year to ₹2,908 crore, compared with ₹2,104 crore in Q2 FY26.

The improvement in quarterly earnings came as the company reported its highest-ever earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA), while profit before exceptional items also increased sharply. At 11:53 AM, Vedanta Power’s share price stood at ₹32.97 apiece, up 14.16%.

Vedanta Power's EBITDA climbed 122% year on year to ₹421 crore during the September quarter. Profit after tax before exceptional items stood at ₹101 crore, an increase of 171% from a year earlier.

The company returned to profitability after reporting losses in both the preceding quarter and the year-ago period. The ₹83 crore net profit was also a marked improvement from the ₹423 crore loss recorded in Q1 FY27.

The latest numbers showed a recovery in operating earnings, with EBITDA growing much faster than revenue during the quarter.

Vedanta Power made its stock market debut on 15 June following the Vedanta Group's demerger. Its shares listed at ₹41.80 on the NSE, giving the company a market capitalisation of ₹16,149.90 crore at the time.

The stock went on to touch a record high of nearly ₹50 in early July. However, it subsequently came under selling pressure and fell to an all-time low of ₹27.50 earlier this week. Friday's rally took the share price back to ₹31.80, although it remained more than 24% below its listing price.
