The Vedanta Oil and Gas Limited’s share price is likely to be in focus on 30 July after the company reported a strong set of numbers for the first quarter of FY27.

Revenue from operations rose 9% year-on-year to ₹2,507 crore from ₹2,303 crore in the corresponding quarter last year, although it was 3% lower than the ₹2,584 crore reported in the March quarter.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) increased 16% sequentially to ₹1,232 crore from ₹1,057 crore in Q4 FY26. On a year-on-year basis, however, EBITDA was marginally lower than ₹1,272 crore reported a year ago. Profit after tax, including discontinued operations, came in at ₹945 crore, compared with a loss of ₹480 crore in the previous quarter and a loss of ₹104 crore in the year-ago period.

The company maintained stable production during the quarter, with average gross operated production at 77.7 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day (kboepd) and average working interest production at 51.1 kboepd. Total gross oil and gas production reached 7.1 million barrels of oil equivalent (boe), while working interest production stood at 4.7 million boe.

During the quarter, the company also announced a gas discovery at the Kaam BCP-1ST well in the Kameshwari-Graben area of the RJ-ON-90/1 block in Rajasthan's Barmer Basin. Vedanta Oil and Gas said it will now undertake detailed technical and commercial evaluations of the discovery to assess its development potential.

Interim CEO and Whole-Time Director, Jim Johnny Gast described the June quarter as a defining milestone, marking the company's first quarterly performance after listing on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE). He said the results reflected operational resilience, exploration success and disciplined capital allocation.

Looking ahead, the company plans to advance exploration drilling, enhanced oil recovery through Alkali-Surfactant-Polymer (ASP) projects and infill development campaigns to support production and resource growth. With interests in 44 blocks covering more than 47,000 square kilometres and estimated resources of 1.4 billion barrels of oil equivalent, Vedanta Oil and Gas said it remains focused on expanding domestic hydrocarbon production while creating long-term value for stakeholders.
