GQG Partners Sells ₹8,000 Crore Worth Of Adani Group
GQG Partners cuts ₹8,000 crore in Adani stakes as institutional investors show mixed trends.

GQG Partners reduced its Adani Group holdings by ₹8,000 crore in the September quarter. Foreign portfolio investors and mutual funds showed mixed investment trends across the conglomerate’s listed companies.

GQG Partners sold shares worth around ₹8,000 crore in five Adani Group companies during the July–September quarter. The move came as foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) adopted mixed positions across the group's listed businesses.

The US-based investment firm was founded by Rajiv Jain. It manages assets worth more than $156 billion. GQG gained attention in 2023 after investing in Adani Group companies. The investments came during a market sell-off triggered by allegations from US short seller Hindenburg Research.

The latest sales follow an estimated reduction of ₹13,200 crore in GQG's Adani holdings during January–June 2026. Its remaining investments in the group were valued at around ₹39,270 crore on 30 September 2026. This compared with ₹47,290 crore at the end of June.

Adani Energy Solutions recorded the sharpest reduction in GQG Partners' shareholding during the September quarter. Its stake fell from 4.14% in June to 1.71% by the end of September.

During the first half of 2026, Adani Enterprises accounted for the largest estimated decline in the value of GQG's investment. The decrease stood at around ₹6,375 crore. Adani Green Energy and Adani Power were also among the companies in which GQG lowered its exposure.

FPI holdings increased in Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports and Adani Total Gas during the September quarter. However, overseas investors reduced their stakes in Adani Power, Adani Green Energy and Adani Energy Solutions.

Mutual funds also adjusted their holdings differently across Adani Group companies. Their holdings declined in Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports and Ambuja Cements. In contrast, mutual funds increased their exposure to Adani Energy Solutions, Adani Power and Adani Green Energy.
