Apollo Micro Systems Wins Indian Navy Order For Autonomous Anti-Submarine Warfare Platform

Apollo Micro Systems Ltd said on Wednesday that the Indian Navy has shortlisted the company and awarded it a Make-II Prototype Sanction Order (PSO) for the design, development and prototype demonstration of an autonomous semi-submersible maritime platform for intelligence, operations and reconnaissance missions. The company disclosed the development in a regulatory filing.

The project, called Semi-Submersible Autonomous Vessel for Intelligence, Operations and Reconnaissance - Anti-Submarine Warfare (SAVIOR-ASW), marks Apollo Micro Systems’ entry into autonomous maritime and underwater warfare systems.

The company said the order recognises its capabilities in indigenous naval maritime electronic warfare technologies. At 2:30 pm, Apollo Micro Systems shares were trading at ₹399.00, up 2.16% on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

What The Project Involves

SAVIOR-ASW is designed as an unmanned semi-submersible platform for persistent anti-submarine warfare surveillance. According to Apollo Micro Systems, the system will be capable of operating autonomously for extended periods. The platform is expected to use:

• Advanced acoustic sensors

• AI/ML-based target classification

• Encrypted multi-channel communication systems

The company said these technologies would support intelligence gathering and underwater surveillance operations.

Awarded Under Make-II Structure

Apollo Micro Systems said the project has been awarded under the Make-II category of India’s defence procurement framework. Under this category:

The government does not bear any cost during the prototype development phase.

Procurement will be considered only after successful demonstration of the prototype.

The company said there would be no cost obligation on the government during the development stage of the SAVIOR-ASW prototype.

Expansion Into Maritime And Underwater Systems

The order expands Apollo Micro Systems’ presence beyond its existing defence electronics business into autonomous maritime and underwater warfare platforms.

The company said the project represents a step toward strengthening India’s indigenous underwater warfare capabilities and is aligned with the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative for self-reliance in defence manufacturing.

Apollo Micro Systems did not disclose the value of the Prototype Sanction Order or the timeline for completion of the prototype demonstration. The filing did not provide details on the number of platforms that may be procured if the prototype is successfully demonstrated.
