Pre-Market 27 October 2026: GIFT Nifty Points To Weak Opening Amid Global Cues, Fed Meeting And Q2 Earnings

GIFT Nifty points to a potentially weak opening on Tuesday as crude oil prices remain elevated despite easing from recent highs, while investors track Wall Street’s AI-led rebound, the US Federal Reserve meeting and a packed Q2 earnings calendar.
Indian equities are set to enter Tuesday’s session after snapping a four-session losing streak. Buying in metal, pharma and other heavyweight stocks helped the benchmarks recover on Monday, although elevated oil prices and geopolitical uncertainty remain concerns.
Indian Markets Recap
The Sensex gained 482.92 points, or 0.66%, to close at 73,606.75 on Monday. The Nifty 50 advanced 153.20 points, or 0.68%, to settle at 22,753.20, recovering from early losses.
Buying in metal, pharmaceutical and other heavyweight stocks supported the rebound. The recovery also extended to mid- and small-cap shares, which had faced heavier selling in the previous week. Foreign institutional investors bought equities worth ₹887.65 crore on Friday, according to exchange data.
The rupee, however, weakened by 29 paise to close at 95.22 against the US dollar. Crude oil prices eased on Monday as markets assessed diplomatic efforts to reduce US-Iran tensions. Brent crude eased to $114.8 a barrel, however, after last week’s rally and fresh attacks on Saudi energy infrastructure.
Global Indices
US stocks advanced on Monday as technology shares gained after Anthropic filed for an initial public offering. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.28% to 52,361.58. The S&P 500 was up 0.70% at 7,676.77, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.82% to 26,169.38.
European markets also advanced on Monday. The UK’s FTSE 100 stood at 10,767.53, up 0.72%, while France’s CAC 40 gained 0.83% to 7,847.32.
Asian markets were mixed. Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell 0.80% to 62,189.65, while South Korea’s KOSPI index declined 1.46% to 5,469.47. Investors weighed technology valuations, energy prices and upcoming central bank decisions.
GIFT Nifty Cues
At 7:48 am on 27 October, GIFT Nifty was trading at 22,667.00, down 106.50 points, or 0.47%, suggesting a potentially weak start for Indian equities today.
Nifty 50 Technical View
The Nifty 50 formed a Tweezer Bottom-like pattern near 22,380, close to its 200-week exponential moving average, raising the possibility of a recovery in momentum. However, the index needs sustained buying above the 22,800–22,850 zone, which coincides with the 20-day exponential moving average (EMA), to strengthen that recovery.
The next major resistance is at 23,200. Until the index clears these levels, consolidation and range-bound trading remain possible.
On the downside, 22,400 is an important level to monitor, with the 22,380 area having provided support in the recent decline.
What Will Set The Tone For Tuesday?
The US Federal Reserve begins its two-day policy meeting on Tuesday, with its decision and press conference due on Wednesday. Investors will assess the central bank’s view of inflation and economic growth, particularly as oil prices remain high.
On the domestic front, Q2 results from Larsen & Toubro, Maruti Suzuki, Bajaj Auto, Tata Steel, Cipla, SBI Life Insurance and other companies are scheduled for Tuesday. Their earnings and management commentary could drive stock-specific moves. Investors will also track developments in the Middle East and any further changes in crude oil prices during the session.
