Vedanta Group Stocks In Red Today
Vedanta Group Stocks Fall As Crude Prices Rise And Market Pressure Persists

Vedanta Group stocks traded lower on September 29, with Vedanta, Vedanta Oil & Gas and Vedanta Power among the shares in the red, while Vedanta Iron & Steel edged higher.

Vedanta Group stocks remained under pressure on Tuesday, September 29, with Vedanta Ltd, Vedanta Oil & Gas, Vedanta Power and Vedanta Aluminium Metal trading in the red during early trade, even as Vedanta Iron & Steel showed a marginal recovery. The selling comes after most of the group’s listed companies recorded losses over the past month.

Vedanta Ltd opened at ₹258.10 on the BSE and was trading marginally lower around 10 am. The stock has declined about 10% over the past month, although it remains up around 19% so far in 2026. Vedanta Iron & Steel has seen a sharper correction, falling around 18.5% over the past month, while Vedanta Power has declined about 12.6% during the same period.

The weakness in Vedanta shares comes against a broader sell-off in Indian equities. The Nifty 50 and Sensex opened lower on Tuesday as crude oil prices rose amid renewed geopolitical tensions, adding pressure to Indian equities and commodity-linked stocks. Brent crude was trading around $107 a barrel, according to Reuters.

Among the key Vedanta Group companies, Hindustan Zinc was trading around ₹565.60, down 1.63%, while Vedanta Ltd was at ₹258.25, lower by 0.67%. Vedanta Aluminium Metal was down 0.37% at ₹418.10, while Vedanta Oil & Gas declined 0.93% to ₹33. Vedanta Power was trading 0.28% lower at ₹32.05.

Vedanta Iron & Steel was the exception, with the stock trading marginally higher at around ₹31.49 after opening lower. The stock, however, remains down about 18.5% over the past month.

Vedanta Ltd has remained below several key moving averages, keeping the broader technical trend weak. According to Virat Jagad, Senior Technical Research Analyst at Bonanza, the stock's immediate support is around ₹250, while ₹270 is an important resistance level. The stock's RSI stood at 42.1, indicating some recovery in momentum but not yet a strong reversal signal.

The ₹250-₹270 range could therefore remain important for tracking the near-term movement in Vedanta share price.

Vedanta Iron & Steel has been among the sharper fallers within the group. The stock declined about 18.5% in one month and around 3% over three months, according to the latest market data.

The stock opened lower on Tuesday but recovered during the early session and moved marginally into positive territory. Technical analyst Virat Jagad said the stock is attempting to form a base around ₹30-31. The ₹33-33.50 zone is the immediate resistance, while a sustained move above ₹33.50 could indicate stronger recovery momentum.

Vedanta Power, Vedanta Aluminium Metal and Vedanta Oil & Gas

Vedanta Power was trading around ₹32.03 on Tuesday, after touching an intraday low of ₹31.80. The stock has declined nearly 12.6% over the past month, although it has gained around 3% over the past week.

Vedanta Aluminium Metal shares also remained under pressure, falling to an intraday low of ₹416.75 before recovering. The stock has declined around 8% over the past month and 7.24% over three months.

Vedanta Oil & Gas was trading around ₹33, down 0.93% during early trade.

The recent weakness follows a broader period of volatility for the demerged Vedanta entities. Vedanta Aluminium Metal, Vedanta Power, Vedanta Oil & Gas and Vedanta Iron & Steel began trading as separate listed companies on June 15, following the group's restructuring.

The decline in Vedanta shares comes at a time when the broader Indian market is facing pressure from higher crude prices, elevated US Treasury yields and geopolitical uncertainty. Rising crude prices are particularly relevant for India because the country is heavily dependent on imports, with higher oil prices potentially affecting inflation and the trade balance.

For the Vedanta Group, the recent trading pattern also needs to be viewed in the context of the June demerger, which created separately listed businesses focused on aluminium, power, oil and gas, and iron and steel.

The four entities are therefore now being valued independently by the market, with their share prices responding to the outlook for their respective commodities and businesses.

For Vedanta Ltd, ₹250 and ₹270 remain important technical levels cited by analysts. For Vedanta Iron & Steel, the ₹30-31 area is being watched as a potential base, while ₹33-33.50 is the immediate resistance zone.

With the broader market also under pressure, the next moves in crude oil prices, global metal prices and overall market sentiment could remain important factors for Vedanta Group stocks.
