Tata Teleservices Q2 Results: Loss Narrows Sharply, But Shares Crash 11% After Earnings Announcement
Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) narrows Q2FY27 net loss to ₹59.20 crore as shares plunge 10.6% after a rally.

Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) reported a narrower net loss for the September quarter of financial year 2026-27 (Q2FY27), with revenue increasing and earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) improving year-on-year. However, shares plunged nearly 11% on 23 October after a sharp rally in the previous session, as profit-booking reversed the post-results gains.

Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) reported a net loss of ₹59.20 crore for the September quarter, compared with ₹320.82 crore in the corresponding period last year. The improvement came alongside higher revenue and stronger operating earnings, although the company continued to report a loss.

Revenue from operations and earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) both improved year-on-year. However, the stock's initial gains proved short-lived. Shares rallied after the results announcement on 22 October but reversed sharply in the following session as investors booked profits.

Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) shares fell as much as 10.6% on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on 23 October, hitting an intraday low of ₹34.20. The stock opened at ₹40.56 against its previous close of ₹38.25.

Trading volumes climbed to nearly six times their usual level as investors booked profits following the previous session's 19% rally. The sharp reversal came despite the improvement in quarterly earnings.

The results also showed that finance costs declined to ₹191.49 crore from ₹424.99 crore in the corresponding quarter. This helped narrow the loss, while operating expenses remained below the year-ago level.

The balance sheet continues to reflect financial pressure. At the end of September, the company reported negative equity of ₹18,932.69 crore. Its current liabilities also exceeded its current assets, a position highlighted in the financial statement notes.

The company said its ultimate holding company had provided a support letter indicating that it would take the necessary financial measures to address any liquidity shortfall over the 12 months following the balance sheet date.
