Indian benchmark indices snapped a five-session losing streak on Monday as easing oil prices and optimism over quarterly earnings lifted investor sentiment. The Sensex gained 1.02% to close at 76,835.78, while the Nifty 50 advanced 0.96% to 23,995.95.
Stocks In Focus
HDFC Bank
The bank concluded its internal review of the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) deposit matter. The bank's board determined that the employees involved had exceeded their authority but found no evidence of mala fide intent, personal gain or misconduct.
Tata Chemicals
Tata Chemicals reported a consolidated net loss of ₹17 crore for the June quarter, compared with a net profit of ₹252 crore in the corresponding period last year. The decline was mainly attributed to weaker realisations, lower other income and reduced contribution from joint ventures.
Godfrey Phillips India
Godfrey Phillips India posted a weaker quarterly performance, with both revenue and net profit declining compared with the same period last year, reflecting softer business conditions during the quarter.
Tata Power
Tata Power delivered stronger-than-expected quarterly results, with net profit increasing 11% year on year. Growth was driven by robust contributions from its renewable energy, transmission and generation businesses, which helped offset pressure on operating margins.
Northern Arc Capital
Northern Arc Capital reported strong earnings for the June quarter. Net profit rose 17.6% year on year to ₹121.8 crore, while net interest income increased 44.2% to ₹496.1 crore. Total revenue also climbed 30% to ₹767.5 crore.
Gravita India
Gravita India maintained its growth momentum during the first quarter. Consolidated net profit rose 14.1% year on year to ₹106.4 crore, supported by steady operational performance.
Bharat Electronics (BEL)
Bharat Electronics reported an in-line quarterly performance, with revenue and net profit slightly exceeding market expectations. The company also approved a proposal to increase its authorised share capital, subject to shareholder approval.
Coal India
Coal India reported a steady first-quarter performance, with consolidated net profit rising marginally by 0.69% year on year to ₹8,852 crore. Revenue also improved, supported by stable coal production and sales during the quarter.
