Global markets were mostly bearish amid escalating geopolitical tensions in West Asia.

  • S&P 500 futures fell 0.2% as of 11:04 AM Tokyo time.

  • Nikkei 225 futures (OSE) fell 4.7%.

  • Japan’s Topix fell 2.9%.

  • Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 fell 0.3%.

  • Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rose 0.7%.

  • The Shanghai Composite fell 0.4%.

  • Euro Stoxx 50 futures were little changed.

  • US-Iran Tensions: There were positive developments on this front. Reports indicate that there is a possibility of a diplomatic breakthrough between the two war-stricken countries.

  • Rupee Opens Higher: The Indian rupee opened 0.16% higher at 95.76 per US dollar on Tuesday. The previous close was at 95.91.

  • Global Oil Prices: Global oil prices fell 1% on Tuesday as Washington paused its strikes on Iran. Brent crude traded near $87 per barrel.

Factors such as positive geopolitical developments and declining crude oil prices are keeping the markets in positive territory. However, whether the rally could be sustained will depend on how things ultimately pan out in the Middle East. Traders must trade with caution.
