Stock Market Update 10 September 2026: Sensex, Nifty 50 Trade Flat After Opening Higher
Sensex and Nifty 50 opened and traded in the green on Thursday morning.

Indian stock market indices opened in positive territory but traded flat afterwards on Thursday morning. While the Sensex gained approximately 145 points, the Nifty 50 was trading close to 23,500.

The Indian stock market indices were trading flat after opening higher on Thursday, 10 September 2026.

At around 10:05 AM:

  • The Sensex was up by 8.60 points (0.01%) to trade at 74,772.83.
  • The Nifty 50 was down by 8.60 points (0.04%) to trade at 23,422.90.

On Wednesday, 9 September 2026, a combination of negative domestic and global cues pulled benchmark indices down. At the closing bell, the Sensex stood at 74,764.23, down 1.08%. The Nifty 50 stood at 23,431.50, down 0.86%.

Apart from the Sensex and the Nifty 50, other broader indices traded in positive territory during early trading on Thursday.

At around 10:05 AM, Bank Nifty was up 91.90 points (0.16%) to trade at 56,387.45. The Nifty Financial Services index was also up by around 0.15% to trade at 25,415.25.

Sectoral indices, meanwhile, traded in mixed directions:

  • Nifty Auto was down 0.57%.
  • Nifty FMCG was up 0.15%.
  • Nifty PSU Bank was up 0.63%.
  • Nifty Realty was down 0.51%.
  • Nifty Commodities was down 0.16%.
  • Nifty Private Bank was up 0.08%.
  • Nifty Metal was down 0.18%.
  • Nifty Pharma was down 0.27%.
  • Nifty IT was up 0.39%.

Global markets gave bearish cues on Thursday morning:

  • S&P 500 futures were little changed as of 7:08 AM Tokyo time.
  • Hang Seng futures fell 0.9%.
  • S&P/ASX 200 futures fell 1%.
  • Crude oil prices: Crude oil prices kept surging amid rising hostilities between the US and Iran in the Middle East. Brent crude held above $101 a barrel.
  • Rupee opens lower: The Indian rupee opened 15 paise lower at 95.25 per dollar on Thursday versus the previous close of 95.10.
  • Gold holds firm: Gold prices remain steady as investors remain cautious ahead of key US inflation readings.
