Reliance Industries Plans ₹10,000 Crore Debt Fundraise After Recent Bond Issue

Reliance Industries is preparing another round of borrowing from the domestic bond market, weeks after returning to rupee debt markets following a nearly three-year gap. The proposed fundraise comes as domestic borrowing conditions remain comparatively favourable against dollar-denominated funding.
Reliance Industries is planning to raise around ₹10,000 crore through 10-year rupee-denominated bonds. The proposed notes are expected to carry an annual coupon of 7.90%, with the company likely to invite bids from investors next week or the following week.
Favourable Domestic Yields Drive Fresh Borrowing
The proposed fundraise comes as borrowing through the domestic bond market remains relatively favourable compared with raising debt in US dollars. Higher US Treasury yields have increased the cost of dollar-denominated funding, making rupee borrowing comparatively attractive for Indian companies.
Reliance is also looking to complete the borrowing ahead of the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI’s) 7 October monetary policy meeting. Large private-sector banks are likely acting as arrangers for the transaction and may partly subscribe to the bonds.
Second Bond Raise In A Short Period
The proposed issue follows Reliance’s recent ₹12,000 crore five-year bond sale at a 7.47% annual coupon. That borrowing marked the company’s first rupee bond offering since November 2023, when it had raised ₹20,000 crore through local-currency debt.
The latest borrowing would therefore add another tranche to Reliance’s domestic bond obligations. If completed, the company’s outstanding bonds would rise to around ₹54,000 crore.
