Pre-Market, 28 October 2026: Sensex And Nifty 50 May Remain Range-Bound With Traders Likely To Closely Watch Domestic And Global Cues

Sensex and Nifty 50 may see cautious and range-bound trading today. Investors are likely to watch global developments and domestic triggers for fresh market direction. Read more.
Markets ended Tuesday’s session with little change in the benchmark indices, as investors remained selective despite a strong recovery in the broader market. The BSE Sensex closed at 73,598.67, down 0.01%, while the Nifty 50 slipped 0.02% to settle at 22,749.75.
Buying interest remained visible in midcap and smallcap stocks. The Nifty Midcap 100 gained 1%, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 rose 2.69%. Today, investors are likely to look for fresh domestic and global cues before deciding whether the market can extend its gains beyond the broader indices.
Global Indices And GIFT Nifty
The US markets finished mostly positive, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq closing in green in the last trading session. While the S&P finished 0.60% higher, the Nasdaq ended the day 1.18% higher. On the other hand, Dow Jones Futures ended nearly flat, down 0.03%.
The European markets showed mixed trends, with the FTSE ending the previous trading session 0.76% down, while the DAX finished 0.70% higher. At 6:42 am today, the GIFT Nifty was trading 0.16% lower.
Sectors Likely To Draw Focus
Banking shares could remain on traders’ radar after private banks and financial services stocks emerged as the biggest sectoral laggards on Tuesday. Investors are also likely to watch whether buying interest returns to financial stocks after yesterday’s weakness.
Media, realty and pharmaceutical stocks were among the better-performing ones on Tuesday. The strength in these sectors helped the broader market outperform the frontline indices.
These sectors could remain on the watchlist, particularly if buying continues beyond a handful of stocks.
Range-Bound Trading Likely To Continue
Markets may see range-bound trading on Wednesday, with benchmarks looking for direction after Tuesday’s flat close. For now, a cautious approach appears to be on the cards. A sustained recovery in heavyweight stocks could improve sentiment.
