Benchmark indices, the Sensex and Nifty 50, held near the day's peak in afternoon trade. Broader markets, however, remained mixed. Read more.

Benchmark equity indices traded near their intraday highs in afternoon trade. They were supported by gains in information technology (IT), private banking and pharmaceutical stocks. At 12:19 pm, the:

Broader markets traded mixed. The Nifty Midcap 100 index was up 0.01%, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 index was down 0.02% at 12:20 pm. Among sectoral indices, the Nifty Cement index emerged as a decent performer. It was up 1.53% at 12:21 pm. The Nifty Pharma index also traded higher.
