JK Cement became the preferred bidder for a 6.90-hectare limestone block in Rajasthan, strengthening raw material access, while the recent Bihar grinding unit commissioning raised its total grey cement capacity to 31.26 MnTPA.

JK Cement Limited has emerged as the preferred bidder for a limestone mining lease in Rajasthan, adding to its raw material base as the company expands capacity. The company disclosed in a regulatory filing that it secured the Maliyakheri Limestone Block-I in Chittorgarh district through an e-auction conducted by the Government of Rajasthan. The block covers an area of 6.90 hectares.

JK Cement said it received confirmation of its preferred bidder status on 25 April 2026, at around 3 PM IST. At 10:14 am, JK Cement shares were trading at ₹5,589 a piece on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

The limestone block is located in Chittorgarh. It is known for its mineral reserves and existing cement clusters. The area has attracted multiple cement manufacturers over the years because of the availability of quality limestone and established logistics networks. The company said the block will help support its raw material needs.

JK Cement said the information has been uploaded on its official website in line with disclosure requirements. The filing did not provide details on investment or timelines for operationalising the block. Winning bidder status is the first step. The company will need to complete further approvals before starting mining operations.

Earlier this year, the company commissioned a cement grinding unit in Bihar. On 29 January 2026, JK Cement said it started operations at its 3 million tonnes per annum (MnTPA) grinding unit at JK Cement Works in Buxar. The addition has increased the company’s total grey cement capacity to 31.26 MnTPA.

The Buxar unit is part of a broader expansion programme. In January 2024, JK Cement approved a 6 MnTPA capacity expansion plan. This includes clinker and cement capacity additions across multiple locations, including Panna in Madhya Pradesh, Hamirpur in Uttar Pradesh, Prayagraj and a greenfield grinding unit in Bihar.
