    Sensex and Nifty closed marginally lower amid profit booking. Stocks in focus on 22 May include ITC, LIC, Tata Steel, Nykaa, GAIL, Max Healthcare, Aurobindo Pharma and LG Electronics India after earnings updates.

    India’s benchmark indices, the Sensex and Nifty 50, ended lower on Thursday, 21 May, weighed down by profit-taking in heavyweights including Reliance Industries, Bharti Airtel and Infosys. The Sensex fell 135 points, or 0.18%, to settle at 75,183.36, while the Nifty 50 edged down 4 points, or 0.02%, to close at 23,654.70.

    ITC Ltd

    Diversified conglomerate ITC Ltd posted a 5% year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit for the March quarter at ₹5,113 crore, compared with ₹4,875 crore in the same period last year.

    Life Insurance Corporation of India

    State-owned insurer LIC reported a 23% year-on-year jump in consolidated net profit for the fourth quarter of FY26, driven by stronger operating performance and healthy expansion across key business segments.

    GAIL India

    Government-run gas major GAIL India Ltd reported a 21.2% quarter-on-quarter fall in net profit for the March quarter at ₹1,262.2 crore, down from ₹1,603 crore in the previous quarter.

    Max Healthcare Institute Ltd

    Max Healthcare Institute recorded a 7.3% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit at ₹342.2 crore for the March quarter, against ₹319 crore reported a year earlier.

    Tata Steel

    Tata Steel announced that the Supreme Court of India has stayed further proceedings in a GST input tax credit dispute involving a tax demand of ₹890.52 crore related to FY18-19 through FY20-21.

    Aurobindo Pharma

    Pharmaceutical company Aurobindo Pharma Ltd posted a 2% year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit to ₹921 crore in the March quarter, compared with ₹903 crore in the year-ago period.

    FSN E-Commerce Ventures Ltd

    Nykaa parent FSN E-Commerce Ventures Ltd reported a strong fourth quarter, with consolidated net profit surging to ₹78.4 crore from ₹20.3 crore a year ago, supported by robust revenue growth and margin improvement.

    LG Electronics India

    LG Electronics India posted its highest-ever quarterly revenue in Q4FY26, aided by improving consumer demand and strong traction in premium product categories, including large-screen televisions, French-door refrigerators, fully automatic washing machines and 5-star air conditioners.

    Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Eicher Motors and Hindalco Industries are expected to release their Q4 results today.
