Why Is SpaceX Commanding Such a High Valuation?
Ahead of the IPO, Musk said future plans of the company include deploying more than 100,000 satellites for communications and building artificial-intelligence data centres in space.
The company has also expanded beyond its traditional rocket business. In February 2026, SpaceX acquired xAI. The deal brought xAI's data centres, Grok AI models, chatbot technology and social media platform X into the group. Musk later said the business would be fully integrated and rebranded as SpaceXAI.
Starlink remains the company's strongest commercial operation. According to company disclosures, Starlink grew from one million subscribers in December 2022 to more than eight million active customers by late 2025. Starlink brought in $7.7 billion of revenue in 2024. That was equal to about 58% of SpaceX's total revenue for the year.
How Strong Are SpaceX's Financials?
Company filings show SpaceX generated $18.67 billion in revenue during 2025, while adjusted EBITDA came in at $6.58 billion. For the first quarter of 2026, revenue stood at $4.7 billion.
Despite its scale, SpaceX reported an operating loss of $1.9 billion in the first quarter of 2026 and disclosed in its prospectus that it has accumulated a total deficit of $41.3 billion since its founding in 2002.
