Prosus Invests $100 Million In Navi Ahead Of Proposed IPO

Sachin Bansal-led Navi has raised $100 million from Prosus in its first institutional funding round. The investment comes as Navi prepares for a potential IPO in India.
Sachin Bansal-led Navi has raised $100 million from Prosus in what marks the fintech company’s first institutional capital raise.
The investment still needs regulatory clearances, including approval from the Competition Commission of India (CCI).
The timing is notable. Navi is also getting ready for a possible stock market listing in India. The company is reportedly looking to raise around $300 million through an initial public offering (IPO) and has hired investment banks to advise on the proposed issue.
Prosus Adds Navi To Its India Bets
Prosus already has a presence in India’s fintech space through its investment in PayU, which operates in digital payments and financial services.
The Navi investment also brings Prosus back into a partnership with Sachin Bansal. Bansal had co-founded Flipkart with Binny Bansal, and Naspers, the parent company of Prosus, was an early investor in the e-commerce business.
Bansal said his association with Naspers and the Prosus Group goes back more than 10 years. He described the investment as an important partnership for Navi.
Prosus India Investments and M&A head Ashutosh Sharma said Navi has a large user base and operates across several businesses. He also pointed to its technology-led model and focus on customer experience.
Navi Handles Nearly 1 Billion UPI Transactions
Navi has also made a mark in India’s UPI market. It ranks as the fourth-largest UPI app by transaction volume.
In July, users made 947 million UPI transactions through Navi, worth ₹48,318 crore. The company also has a sizeable lending operation. Navi Finserv, its lending arm, manages assets worth more than ₹13,000 crore.
Personal loans account for nearly 90% of Navi Finserv’s credit portfolio. The lending business has served around 3.8 million customers, according to the company.
The $100 million investment gives Navi fresh institutional backing as it works on expanding its financial services business and prepares for a possible IPO.
