Whirlpool India Stock Hits 20% Upper Circuit As Promoter Whirlpool Mauritius Reportedly Plans Full Exit

Whirlpool India shares hit the 20% upper circuit at ₹865.25 as the promoter’s 39.76% holding came into focus. The potential ownership change follows a sharp reduction from 51% last year, while June-quarter revenue rose 12.1% but net profit fell 29.57%.
Whirlpool Mauritius is looking to sell its remaining 39.76% stake in Whirlpool of India, potentially bringing a major change in the ownership structure of the listed consumer durables company, CNBC-TV18 reported on Wednesday, citing sources.
Whirlpool India shares surged 20% to hit the upper circuit at ₹865.25, compared with Tuesday’s close of ₹721.05. The stock added ₹144.20 in the session as investors reacted to the potential promoter exit. The promoter held a 39.76% stake in the company as of June 2026.
The discussions are said to be in an advanced stage, with an announcement potentially due in the coming weeks. Potential buyers are understood to include large investors and a multinational consumer durables company, although details of the proposed transaction have not been disclosed.
Whirlpool Mauritius Stake Sale
Whirlpool Mauritius has been steadily reducing its holding in the Indian business. The promoter held a 51% stake before selling 14.255 million shares through an on-market transaction in November 2025.
The transaction brought its holding down to 39.76% and also changed Whirlpool India’s relationship with its promoter, with the company ceasing to be a subsidiary of Whirlpool Mauritius.
Whirlpool Corporation had said at the time that it was evaluating further options to reduce its equity stake. Proceeds from such transactions were expected to be used towards debt reduction.
A sale of the remaining 39.76% holding would therefore mark a significant further reduction in Whirlpool Corporation’s ownership of the Indian company. It could also bring a new financial or strategic shareholder into Whirlpool India.
The June 2026 shareholding pattern shows Whirlpool Mauritius continuing to hold 39.76% in the company.
Whirlpool India Q1 FY27 Results
The ownership development comes as Whirlpool India reports higher revenue but lower profit for the June quarter.
Revenue from operations rose 12.1% year on year to ₹2,726.75 crore in the first quarter of FY27. Consolidated net profit declined 29.57% to ₹102.88 crore from ₹146.08 crore in the same period last year.
Total income increased 12.43% to ₹2,795.64 crore, while total expenses rose 16% to ₹2,656.89 crore.
Whirlpool India sells refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners and other home appliances, with manufacturing facilities in Faridabad, Puducherry and Pune.
The stock had fallen to a 52-week low of ₹706.30 on September 18, while its 52-week high stands at ₹1,437. Wednesday’s move took the stock sharply higher from its recent low, although it remains below its 52-week peak.
The focus now shifts to whether the proposed stake sale is formally announced and, if completed, the buyer, deal value and price at which Whirlpool Mauritius sells its remaining holding.
