VA Tech Wabag Shares Jump 8% After ₹1,000 Crore Reliance Industries Order, Ending Eight-Day Losing Streak
VA Tech Wabag shares gained 8.23% after securing a ₹1,000 crore-plus Reliance Industries order.

VA Tech Wabag shares rose over 8% on Tuesday after securing a mega order worth over ₹1,000 crore from Reliance Industries for a Jamnagar desalination and remineralisation plant, ending an eight-session losing streak.

VA Tech Wabag share price today rose 8.23% to ₹1,848 on 27 October 2026, gaining ₹140.60 as of 12:03 pm IST.

The latest VA Tech Wabag news comes after the company secured a mega order of more than ₹1,000 crore from Reliance Industries (RIL) to build a desalination and remineralisation plant in Jamnagar, Gujarat.

The project is to be executed in phases over 25 months and includes a desalination plant with an initial capacity of 8,400 cubic metres per hour, expandable to 12,600 cubic metres per hour, or 302 million litres per day (MLD).

Under the contract, VA Tech Wabag will design, engineer, supply, install, pre-commission and commission the desalination plant, followed by a Performance Guarantee Test Run (PGTR). The test checks whether the commissioned facility meets agreed standards for capacity, efficiency and environmental performance.

The seawater treatment system will use clarifiers, dissolved air flotation filters and ultrafiltration before the water passes through seawater and brackish water reverse osmosis systems. The project also includes chemical dosing, backwash, treated water storage and brine disposal systems.

The remineralisation plant will have a capacity of 3,000 cubic metres per hour. Its systems will include limestone filters, lime handling, carbon dioxide storage and dosing facilities, along with water storage and pumping infrastructure.

The order adds to the company’s work for RIL at Jamnagar. Investors tracking the VA Tech Wabag share price will also be watching the company’s order announcements and execution timelines.

The RIL contract follows another order from the same client in September. On 7 September, VA Tech Wabag announced a “medium” order for an effluent treatment plant at the Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex in Jamnagar.

The contract covers design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection and commissioning. The company classifies domestic orders worth ₹100 crore to ₹250 crore as medium orders.

The stock has gained 39.98% in 2026 so far and risen 31.35% over the past 12 months. However, it remains 25.9% below its 52-week high of ₹2,319, recorded on 11 September 2026. The latest order announcement follows eight consecutive sessions of losses for the stock.
