Factors Impacting The Markets
Middle East Tension: Tensions in the Middle East have intensified. There were reports of Iran-backed Houthis making fresh attacks on Saudi tankers in the Red Sea.
FPI activity: With the rupee weakening again and persistent conflict, foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) have remained net sellers in Indian markets for most of this month.
Oil Prices Keep Rising: Crude oil prices are now reacting sharply to the ongoing Middle East conflict. Brent crude is about to touch $100 per barrel, causing fears among companies across the world.
Depreciating Rupee: A constantly depreciating rupee has kept the markets on edge. On Friday, the currency opened marginally lower at 96.63 per US dollar. The previous close was at 96.57.
Investor Takeaway
Factors like the ongoing Middle East conflict, increasing oil prices, and bulk selling by FPIs have taken a toll on the market. The volatility could continue without any signs of immediate respite. Investors must track the geopolitical developments closely before taking major positions.
