OFSS Shares Fall After Oracle Issues Force Majeure Notice Over Project Jupiter

OFSS shares fell 4% to ₹10,460 after Oracle issued a force majeure notice over Project Jupiter power delays. Read more about the development.
Oracle Financial Services Software (OFSS) shares fell as much as 4% on 25 September 2026 after its US parent Oracle issued a force majeure notice linked to a large data centre project in New Mexico.
The notice concerns potential delays in securing power for Project Jupiter, which is being developed by a unit of Blue Owl Capital. Reports said Oracle is seeking to delay certain payments if the project does not become operational in 2028 as planned.
At 11:30 AM on 25 September, OFSS shares were trading 3.33% lower at ₹10,561 apiece.
Oracle holds a stake worth around ₹70,000 crore in OFSS.
What Is Behind Oracle’s Force Majeure Notice?
Oracle is not looking to walk away from the project. Instead, the company is trying to protect itself from higher costs if construction or power-related issues push back the data centre's opening. Under a force majeure provision, a company can seek relief from contractual obligations when events beyond its control affect a project.
Blue Owl, which owns the developer Stack Infrastructure, said the notice does not change the financial commitments attached to the multi-year project. Oracle has also said that Project Jupiter remains on schedule.
The 1,400-acre Project Jupiter campus is linked to Oracle's agreement to provide artificial intelligence (AI) computing capacity to OpenAI. The project has faced several setbacks, including delays involving a natural-gas pipeline and regulatory challenges around permits for its power infrastructure.
Why Does Project Jupiter Matter?
Project Jupiter is part of Stargate, a major AI infrastructure initiative involving OpenAI, SoftBank and Oracle. Reports have said the campus has secured about $18 billion in loans from a group of banks.
The latest development has also raised wider questions about the pace and cost of building AI data centres, as companies deal with power availability, infrastructure delays and local opposition. Analysts expect the immediate impact on Oracle to remain limited because Jupiter is not expected to contribute revenue in fiscal 2027.
