Molbio Diagnostics Hits 20% Upper Circuit As Shares Surge 87% From IPO Price

Molbio Diagnostics shares hit a 20% upper circuit on Thursday. This takes the stock’s gains since listing to roughly 87% over the IPO price. The sharp surge comes following the diagnostics company's Q1 FY27 results.
Molbio Diagnostics share price hit the 20% upper circuit on 10 September 2026, extending the stock's strong performance since its market debut. The shares had been listed on 17 August 2026 at ₹807 per share and have since risen nearly 87% from the IPO price.
The stock also touched an all-time high of ₹1,509.70 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) during Thursday's session.
At 12:49 pm, Molbio Diagnostics shares were trading at ₹1,509.40 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), up 19.99%. The stock opened at ₹1,271 and touched a high of ₹1,509.40, while the day's low was ₹1,271. Its previous close stood at ₹1,257.90.
Molbio Diagnostics Sees Profit Turnaround And Higher Truenat Volumes In Q1
The company reported a consolidated profit of ₹52.74 crore for Q1 FY27 on 7 September 2026, compared with a loss of ₹23.94 crore in the year-ago quarter. Molbio attributed the improvement to continued growth in Truenat test-kit consumption.
Total income rose to ₹411.48 crore from ₹100.47 crore in Q1 FY26. Truenat test-kit volumes also increased sharply to 62.4 lakh units from 7.9 lakh units in the corresponding quarter last year. Truenat is designed to detect a range of infectious diseases at the point of care.
Molbio Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sriram Natarajan described FY27 as a milestone year for the company following its transition to a listed entity.
Molbio Diagnostics IPO Had Strong Investor Demand
The Molbio Diagnostics IPO raised around ₹940 crore and was subscribed 70.26 times on the final day of bidding. The issue carried a price band of ₹768-807 per share.
The public issue consisted of a fresh issue of up to ₹200 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) of up to 91.66 lakh shares by existing shareholders.
Of the fresh issue proceeds, ₹106 crore was earmarked for infrastructure for a research and development (R&D) facility, a centre of excellence and office space. Another ₹72 crore was allocated for plant, machinery and equipment at the Goa and Visakhapatnam facilities. The remaining funds were intended for general corporate purposes.
The stock made a significant debut, opening at ₹980 on both the BSE and NSE against its ₹807 IPO price. The BSE listing represented a 21.43% premium to the issue price, while the stock subsequently climbed to 24.16% to ₹1,002.05.

Established in 2000, Molbio Diagnostics operates in point-of-care molecular diagnostics and provides testing for around 30 diseases, including tuberculosis, COVID-19, HIV, human papillomavirus (HPV) and hepatitis B and C.
The company's flagship Truenat platform is a battery-operated, point-of-care polymerase chain reaction (PCR) system patented in more than 100 countries. It is designed for decentralised testing, including in resource-limited settings, and can provide diagnostic results within an hour.
